Damping-off fungi
Characteristics
fungi that cause "damping-off" can kill seedlings, sometimes even before they emerge. They thrive in wet, poorly drained, cold soils.
To help prevent damping off, select fresh seeds, improve drainage, and plant seeds when the soil temperature favours growth. Solarizing the soil before planting can help reduce fungi. Don't overwater.
