Common Plant Pests
Mole
Characteristics:
Ridges and mounds of soil are sure signs of a mole invasion. Moles eat insects, not plants, but damage plants while tunneling for insects and earthworms.
Moles are about five to seven inches long, with dark, velvety fur, a pointed snout, no visible eyes or ears, and claws for digging.
Surface feeding burrows, which form visible ridges, are often abandoned soon after they are dug. Main runways are usually eight to 18 inches below ground level.
