Green Issues - CEED Centre Society
Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Environmental Council (MRPMEC)

Environmental organizations and stewardship groups in the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows area are exchanging information and making consensus positions of the environmental community known to their government representatives and civil servants as members of MRPMEC, which was formed on November 28, 2005.

Pesticides and Alternatives

Synthetic chemical substances introduced to the environment for cosmetic purposes should be halted. Find out about alternatives on the CanadaGrowSmart site (under development) or Campaign for Pesticide Reduction! Maple Ridge site (complete).

Waste Reduction

Learn about how to reduce recyclable waste. See the Port Haney Compost Education Garden.

Community Gardens

Grow you own food in the CEED Centre Organic Community Garden or the Pioneer Park Community Garden, or help to grow produce at these gardens for the food bank, or help students grow food at the Glenwood School Neighbourhood Garden.

ALR and Land Use Issues

Interested in land use issues? Join the CEED Centre Society to lend your voices to these vital issues in the Ridge Meadows area. Join. Help us research issues and present balanced information to the public. Volunteer.

Jackson Farm

A 39-acre historical landmark, Jackson Farm is under threat of development despite having been designated future parkland through a public process. The potential removal from the GVRD Green Zone (Livable Region Strategic Plan) and extension of the Urban Boundary to include it is happening behind the scenes without due public knowledge. See a press release from the Friends of Jackson Farm.
